Wildfire near Karnobat contained

BAKU, Sep 11 (AZERTAC/APP/DNA):The wildfire in the Karnobat area has been contained, according to the Bulgarian News Agency (BTA).

“The situation is now calmer, with three active hotspots remaining in hard-to-reach areas. There is no danger of the flames spreading to populated areas,” the town’s mayor Georgi Dimitrov said, adding that firefighting efforts continue on the ground.

Three fire service teams are engaged in extinguishing the fire.

On September 10, the Mayor declared a partial state of emergency in the municipality due to the fire affecting the lands of the villages of Exarch Antimovo, Dobrinovo, Smolnik, and Zhitosvyat.
