Hyderabad, OCT 2: Indian cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle has emphasized the pivotal role of two Pakistani players, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, in the upcoming World Cup 2023.
While talking on Cricbuzz, Bhogle stated that Pakistan’s success in the tournament could hinge on the performances of these two dynamic cricketers.
“Pakistan cannot win this World Cup without two players having big World Cup for them – Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi. Babar is probably the best One Day batsman on current form at the moment. I think deep down Virat Kohli might have something to say about that but on current form Babar Azam is playing fantastic cricket,” Bhogle said.
Furthermore, Bhogle emphasized the importance of Shaheen Afridi’s contributions to Pakistan’s bowling attack. The left-arm fast bowler’s ability to claim wickets with the new ball could be the key to stabilizing the team’s position.
“Shaheen Afridi, if he doesn’t take wickets with a new ball, the side is a little bit in trouble so to me for Pakistan, it’s Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi,” he concluded.
