World Junior Hockey Championship to be held in Bishkek

BISHKEK, , JAN 11: U20 World Junior Hockey Championship (IIHF Division III-B) will be held in Bishkek from January 18 to 24.

On the eve of the competition, today, January 9, the Director of the State Agency for Physical Culture and Sports Kazybek Moldajiev visited the “Alga” sports complex in Bishkek and got acquainted with the progress of the training session of the national team of Kyrgyzstan. According to the agency, Kazybek Moldajiev expressed confidence in the athletes, wished them to show high skill in every match and strive for victory.

He also discussed preparations for the championship with Urmat Asanbaev, Director of the “Yashtyk” Directorate for Olympic Games and Sports and Mass Events, Elzar Bolotbekov, Vice-President of the Hockey Federation of Kyrgyzstan, and Alexei Khakalo, head coach of the national team.

It is worth noting that the youth national teams of 6 countries will participate in the world championship – Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Luxembourg, South Africa, Iran and Hong Kong (China).

The competitions will be held at the city ice rink “Bishkek Arena”.
