Xi stresses modernization of China’s emergency management system


President Xi Jinping has underscored the government’s efforts to modernize China’s emergency management system.

While presiding over a meeting of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee Political Bureau, President Xi said the country should improve its mechanisms for preventing and defusing risks, enhance risk assessment, monitoring and early warning, and strengthen emergency plan management.

The president also called for emergency rescue teams to be strengthened, particularly with regard to their professional skills and air rescue capabilities.

He also urged local authorities to better assess the impact of major natural disasters and accidents.
