DERA ISMAIL KHAN, MAR 1: Acting on directives from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government, the District Administration of Dera Ismail Khan conducted comprehensive inspections across markets, bazaars, and food outlets to ensure price regulation, food safety, and public relief during the holy month of Ramazan.
Early in the morning, the Assistant Commissioner (AC) Ehsanullah, accompanied by District Food Controller Aman Khan, Deputy Tehsildar Nasir Ahmed, and officials from the Agriculture Department, supervised the auction of vegetables, fruits, and other agricultural products at Ratta Kalachi Stadium. The auction process was monitored for transparency, and prices were evaluated on-site to issue updated official rates. Traders, wholesalers, and shopkeepers were instructed to supply high-quality produce at government-fixed prices, with legal action threatened for violations. Market cleanliness and traffic management measures were also assessed to ensure smooth operations for buyers and vendors.
Simultaneously, under the supervision of Additional Assistant Commissioner Sajid Ali Khan, a special inspection team carried out detailed checks of fruit, vegetable, and dairy shops. The teams assessed prices, quality, hygiene, and the sale of expired products. Violations led to fines totaling PKR 6,000. The administration reaffirmed its commitment to uninterrupted monitoring and zero tolerance for substandard or unsafe food items.
In other areas, Assistant Commissioner Paharpur Dr. Hamid led price control teams to inspect markets in Panyala, Paharpur, Aiwan, Thathal, Kirri Khaisur , and Chashma Side. While most traders were found compliant with government rates, minor violations resulted in warnings and guidance for strict adherence in the future.
A special Food and Milk Inspection Team, headed by AC Revenue Dera Ismail Khan Iftikhar Ahmed with officers from the Halal Food Authority and Livestock Department, conducted inspections in Sheikh Yusuf Adda, Chashma Road, and Topanwala markets. Checks included milk, yogurt, bakery items, and fried snacks. Non-compliance with hygiene and quality standards resulted in fines totaling PKR 10,000. Officials emphasized that adulteration and violations of food safety regulations would not be tolerated under the district’s zero-tolerance policy.
Further, Assistant Commissioner Daraban conducted inspections of New Vegetable Market and Grid Road, identifying cases of overpricing, lack of prominently displayed official rates, and inadequate cleanliness. Legal actions on-site included fines totaling PKR 10,000, with traders directed to maintain standards or face strict enforcement.
Assistant Commissioner Paroa also carried out surprise inspections at Chaudhwan Mor, targeting bakeries, fruit and vegetable shops, and general stores. Violations related to overpricing, absence of official rates, and poor hygiene resulted in fines amounting to PKR 16,000.
In addition to market regulation, the district administration organized Iftar and Sehri arrangements for travelers, needy individuals, and the general public at multiple locations across Dera Ismail Khan included District Headquarters Hospital, Mufti Mehmood Memorial Hospital, Government Shelter, Women’s Hospital, Dera Darya Khan Bridge, Rangpur, Chashma, Main Paroa Bazaar, and Aman Mela. These efforts ensured timely and quality meals for the fasting population during Ramazan.
District officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining market discipline, controlling prices, enforcing food safety standards, and providing public relief throughout the holy month. They stressed that any negligence or violation would be met with immediate legal action.
