ISLAMABAD, OCT 02 (DNA) — Sarbaz Khan on Monday scaled the world’s sixth-highest peak Chu Oyo located in China, becoming the first Pakistani scaling 13 peaks of over 8,000 meters. Sarbaz Khan belongs to the scenic Hunza valley of Gilgit-Baltistan region. He began his climbing career in 2016.
In 2019, he became the first Pakistani to summit Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth-highest mountain at 8,516 m (27,940 ft), from Nepal without using supplementary oxygen. Moreover, he scaled the 8,125-m (26,657-ft) Nanga Parbat in 2017, the 8,611-m (28,251-ft) K2 in 2018, and in 2019, Broad Peak, which boasts a height of 8,163 m (26,782 ft).
He also climbed the 8,091-m (26,545-ft) Mount Anapurna, and the 8,035-m (26,362-ft) Gasherbrum II, and the 8,848-m (29,029-ft) Mount Everest – the world’s tallest peak. — DNA
