More than 600 tons of waste is collected and transferred to the transfer station every day.

Rawalpindi, NOV 4: /DNA/ – All resources are being utilized for Mission Clean Rawalpindi. With the cooperation of the business community, citizens and volunteers the clean-up campaign will be made successful. This was stated by Saqib Rafiq, President Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and Chairman Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) during his visit to difference union councils, bazaars and markets as part of ongoing cleanliness drive in the Rawalpindi City.

 More than 600 tons of waste is collected daily and transported to the transfer station at Liaqat Bagh from where it is transported to the Losar dumping site, he added.

Monitoring of drive is being carried out effectively to ensure zero waste policy, campaign will continue till November 20, he further added.

Saqib Rafiq said that citizens are requested to place garbage safely to the containers where RWMC staff are emptying these containers on a daily basis to ensure zero waste from the city.

Saqib Rafiq said that as part of the campaign, he along with the operational team has visited the areas of Ratta Amaral, Peerwadhai, Fuji Colony, Chandni Chowk, Sixth Road, Double Road, Sarafa Bazar, Bhabra Bazar. He said that the committees at the level of union councils are also being activated to ensure the attendance of the staff.

The shop owners in the markets and bazaars have been instructed to clean their shops at night so that the RWMC staff can dispose of it early in the morning.

Saqib Rafiq said that as part of the cleanliness campaign, awareness camps have been organized in different areas and pamphlets containing information regarding prevention of dengue and smog.
