Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, Barrister Gohar Khan, expressed reservations regarding the recent Supreme Court decision, stating that while they respect the ruling, they remain dissatisfied.

Addressing the media, Barrister Gohar emphasized that PTI won’t boycott the elections but is urging the Supreme Court to consider their concerns seriously.

He highlighted the party’s stance for impartiality in the electoral process, questioning the fairness of District Commissioners (DCs) who had ordered the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) and their ability to conduct transparent elections.

The PTI chairman underlined the necessity of ensuring that government representatives don’t influence the election process and advocated for all Returning Officers (ROs) to come from the judiciary for an unbiased approach.

Regarding the trial of PTI founder Imran Khan, he alleged it was an attempt to exert pressure and compromise, affirming the party’s commitment to not yield under such pressure. He stressed that PTI aims for fair and transparent elections without compromising democratic values.

Responding to queries, the PTI chairman highlighted their dedication to upholding democracy, expressing concerns about the fairness of the electoral process. He reiterated that every party holds the right to voice apprehensions before the court.

The Supreme Court’s decision yesterday nullified Lahore High Court’s Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) ruling and ordered the release of the election schedule, fixing the elections for February 8, 2024. As PTI continues to voice its concerns, the party emphasizes the need for an election process that upholds transparency and fairness.
