LAHORE: Thanks to the 157-run partnership between Jason Roy and Saud Shakil, Quetta Gladiators put a massive 206 runs on the scoreboard at the loss of five wickets against Peshawar Zalmi on Sunday at the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore.
Roy bludgeoned 75 off 48 and Saud 74 off 47. They hit 21 centuries combined including six maximums.
Captain Rilee Rossouw was clean bowled by Muhammad Zeeshan for 14 off 7 and Sherfane Rutherford (20) was caught out off Salman Irshad’s ball.
Salman Irshad grabbed three wickets in four overs conceding 38 runs. Surprisingly, Aamer Jamal gave 29 runs in two overs with an average of 14.50, the most expensive. Dan Mousely averaged 7.33 runs in three overs with no wicket. Whereas, Luke Wood and Zeeshan took one wicket apiece.
Earlier, Zalmi won the toss and put Quetta Gladiators to bat first in the second match of the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 at Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore.
Zalmi skipper Babar Azam said they would try to restrict Gladiators to 160 runs.
Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi have faced each other in 21 matches, with Quetta Gladiators winning nine games and Peshawar Zalmi winning 12.
