ECB bans batter Usman Khan for five years

Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) on Friday banned right-handed batter Usman Khan. This suspension effectively sidelined him from any tournaments either hosted or sanctioned by the ECB.

Usman, who had previously showcased his prowess as a foreign player in Pakistan Super League (PSL) season nine, had recently expressed his desire to represent Pakistan.

Following his exceptional performance in PSL 9, where he made history by scoring two centuries in a single edition, Usman was even called up for a fitness camp in Kakul.

However, the ECB’s press release painted a different picture. According to the ECB, Usman had breached his obligations to the board by misrepresenting his intentions to play for the UAE team.

The ECB highlighted Usman’s participation in the International League T20 Season 2 and the signing of an employment contract with him, both aimed at facilitating his eligibility to represent the UAE internationally.

The Multan Sultans’ batter is currently undergoing training at Kakul under the supervision of the Pakistan Army.

While preparing for potential selection in the upcoming series against New Zealand, where he’s anticipated to bolster the middle-order for the Babar Azam-led squad, his future in international cricket hangs in the balance.
