Harry Kane eyes ‘shocking’ Premier League return: report

Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane could make a shocking return to his previous club Tottenham Hotspur as the Englishman is part of five players who may bid farewell to the Bavarian club, reported L’Equipe on Tuesday.

Kane left Spurs for Bayern after playing for the North London side for over 10 years. Their chairman, Daniel Levy, confirmed that the deal included a buyback clause which the club could activate should they decide to acquire his services again.

The 30-year-old is under contract with Bayern until 2027 and has been their best performer this season as he has scored 38 goals in 37 matches across competitions this season.

However, despite a stellar season so far, Kane could end up leaving the Bavarian side as he is on the list of players who may bid farewell to the club in the summer. The list includes Aleksandar Pavlovic, Thomas Muller, Kane, and Manuel Neuer.

Bayern are set to lose the Bundesliga title for the first time since 2012 as Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen sit 16 points clear on the top of the table and could clinch the title on April 14 when they face Werder Bremen at their home.

The season didn’t go as expected for Thomas Tuchel’s side and the Champions League is their only salvage, where they will face Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the quarter-final on Tuesday.

Tuchel stated that nothing will hold Kane back when he takes on his former rivals as he would be very happy to score against the Gunners.

“He has thrived on it many times now so I don’t think he will stop tomorrow,” the German said. “I think it’s very enjoyable for Harry to be here against Arsenal in the quarter-final of the Champions League. I think it will make him very happy to score.

“I don’t see anything holding him back. I feel he is very motivated. Harry always helps you to win in any team, for England, Tottenham and now for us. He will help us to perform.”
