RAWALPINDI, JUN 2 /DNA/ – The Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) and Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ICCI) have reiterated their firm resolve for collective efforts to resolve the issues of the business community of twin cities. It was reiterated to form a joint working team and organize joint events to promote industrial and commercial activities for the benefit of the region. It was agreed that the two chambers would meet twice a month to resolve issues related to the business community.
This was stated by President RCCI Saqib Rafiq during a meeting with ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtavari during a delegation visit to Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). Senior Vice President Muhammad Hamza Sarosh, Vice President Faisal Shahzad and Member Executive Committee Ikram Ur Rehman were also included in the delegation. ICCI President Ahsan Zafar Bakhtavari, former President ICCI Zafar Bakhtavari, Khalid Chaudhry, Sheikh Jamshed, former President of Islamabad Women’s Chamber Ms. Naima Ansari, among others, were also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, problems faced by the business community of the twin cities, industrial zones, expo center, alternative dispute resolution, issues related to FBR, RDA, CDA, close contact with the district administration and government officials and the business community. Joint efforts to provide maximum facilities were discussed.
President Rawalpindi Chamber Saqib Rafiq said that for the promotion of business and industrial activities, a business facilitation center (BFC) should be established in Islamabad like Rawalpindi. Establishment of expo centers and industrial zones are inevitable, both cities are expanding, to promote SMEs and reduce traffic pressure from the city, it is necessary to establish industrial and economic zones around the ring road. He suggested that Commercial and business activities will have to be promoted on the pattern of the Central Business District (CBD).
Long-term and planned over a period of three to five years policies required for sustainable growth and projects completions. He said that the many disputes are linked with the demarcation of boundaries of twin cities as well as many issues be it construction of a road, laying of a water or gas pipeline, matters related to police or other facilities.
President Islamabad Chamber Ahsan Zafar Bakhtawari assured that the problems of the business community of the twin cities will be solved together.
