IEA urges British diplomat to assist Afghanistan in the health sector

KABUL, AUG 11: Noor Jalal Jalali, the Acting Minister of Public Health, met with Robert Dixon, the Chargé d’Affaires of the British Embassy to Afghanistan, on Saturday and asked the UK for help in the health sector.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the two officials discussed the treatment of drug addicts, cooperation in maternal and child health, and attracting international aid to Afghanistan’s health sector.

“Many addicts were treated in the past two years, and a large number of them are still being treated in the center of Kabul and the addiction treatment centers of the provinces,” Jalali said.

He also noted the importance of cooperation of international organizations and asked the UK for assistance.

Dixon meanwhile pledged his country’s continuous cooperation for Afghanistan’s health sector, the statement read.
