No tolerance for fake medicine sellers

ATTOCK: District Drug Controller, Uzma Khalid has said that the District Quality Control Board decides the cases of chemists and pharmacies entirely on merit. Under the Pharmacy Act, it is the responsibility of pharmacy, medical store owners to provide high quality medicines to the public within the ambit of the law.

She expressed these views in a meeting with officials of the Tehsil Chemist Union on the occasion of his visit to Pindi Gheb.

Deputy Drug Controller Pindi Gheb Saddam Hussain, Chairman PCDA Attock Aslam Naqash, Patron General Pindi Gheb Chemist Union Haji Nazir Ahmad Awan, President Chemist Union Pindi Gheb Shaukat Mehmood Bhatti, Senior Vice President Nazir Awan, Senior Vice President Shahid Haider, Vice President Naseer Hussain, General Secretary Syed Zaman Abbas Naqvi, Additional Secretary Asad Mehmood and Executive Member Waqar Ahmed were also present on the occasion.

As per reported by our district representative faisal munir that Drug Controller Attock Ms. Uzma Khalid has said that selling substandard unregistered medicines is a legal offence. Those who sell fake and substandard medicines are enemies of humanity, such unscrupulous elements do not deserve any concession. The rules and regulations will be strictly followed while implementing the Drug Act, she added.

On this occasion, Haji Nazir Ahmed Awan, Patron General of Pindi Gheb Chemist Union about the problems faced in issuing dispenser licenses.

Ms. Uzma Khalid further said that the issuing of licenses to dispensers has started and soon all the dispensers will receive the licenses. She said that campaign is going on behalf of the Punjab government to eradicate fake and substandard medicines. The priorities of the Punjab government include the provision of quality medicines to the people, elimination of substandard medicines, ensuring the supply of quality medicines, and experienced staff at all medical stores. This includes ensuring the purchase and sale of controlled drugs, she added.
