KARACHI – Pakistan Test team captain Shan Masood emphasised the need to support players to build a strong team. Addressing a press conference in Karachi, he acknowledged that it was easy to make changes after the consecutive defeats, but players needed backing to move forward.
Masood noted the importance of consistency within the team, expressing disappointment over the loss to Bangladesh.
He accepted responsibility for the results and highlighted the pressure that came with representing the country.
He mentioned that Nouman Ali was included in the squad for the England series based on conditions, stressing that this series was crucial for Pakistan.
He reflected on the Champions One Day Cup, noting good preparations and the standards of the tournament.
Shan Masood aimed at improving performance in the upcoming Test series against England and acknowledged the team’s regrets over the Bangladesh match.
He reiterated the necessity of providing players with consistent opportunities for success. He noted the unfortunate injury of Khurram Shahzad, declaring him a key player for the team.
Masood concluded by stating that decisions regarding Shehzad’s return would be made once he regained fitness.
He said that although the squad for the first Test against England had been announced, they were uncertain about conditions in Multan. He reiterated that the focus would be on starting the series strong, and improving as a team.
