RAWALPINDI, OCT 3 (DNA) : Adiala Jail’s officers including missing deputy superintendent Muhammad Akram, assistant superintendent Riaz Khan, two warders have been dismissed from office.
Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal has also issued the notification on suspension of Adiala Jail’s officers.
According to sources, Adiala Jail deputy superintendent Muhammad Akram and assistant superintendent Riaz Khan have been removed from office.
Barrack in-charge warder Nasir Mehmood and warder Amir Abbas were also removed from their posts as a result of the inquiry’s findings.
Night-duty officer assistant superintendent Mahmood al-Hasan has been sentenced to two years while head warder Wajid Mahmood received a one-year sentence.
According to sources, officers were sacked after being proven guilty in an inquiry on the murder in jail. IG Prisons Punjab had directed an inquiry on murder incident in Adiala Jail.
An inquiry was proceeded against jail officers on murder of a detainee in mentally retard prisoners’ cell on February 29.
Then deputy superintendent Muhamamd Akram and seven other employees were declared convicted in the light of murder inquiry while dismissal of four employees were proposed.
The authorised authority summoned employees by issuing notices to them on August 30.
The employees appeared in the Director General Directorate of Monitoring and Home Department, but the deputy superintendent remained absent.
