ISLAMABAD; NOV 7 (DNA): Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Chinese Embassy and met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong. Interior Minister expressed sorrow over the incident in Karachi where two Chinese citizens were injured due to firing by a security guard.
Mohsin Naqvi briefed Ambassador Jiang Zaidong regarding the details of the incident and the progress made in the investigation. He expressed solidarity with the Chinese Ambassador, Chinese governmenty and the families of injured Chinese citizens. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
The Interior Minister said that we fully agree with the concept of integrating development and security. He assured that ensuring the security of Chinese citizens and projects is our top priority. He added that all possible measures are being taken to ensure the security of CPEC projects. He highlighted that security measures are being further improved and strengthened to ensure a safe and peaceful environment for the Chinese citizens.
Interior Minister stressed that those involved in the incident will be brought to justice. He emphasized that Pakistan and China are iron brothers and strategic partners. Both sides agreed to develop a joint strategy to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Ambassador Jiang Ziadong said that Pakistan-China friendship is continuously growing stronger, and comprehensive progress has been made in cooperation. In this context, a safe and stable cooperation environment is very important. He stated that China is willing to further enhance bilateral security cooperation and help in enhancing capacity building of the Pakistani institutions.
The Ambassador thanked the Interior Minister for the excellent arrangements during the Chinese Premier’s recent visit to Pakistan. He also inquired about President Asif Ali Zardari’s health and extended good wishes for his speedy recovery. The Ambassador also said that Chinese President Xi Jinping has written a letter to President Asif Ali Zardari, expressing good wishes for his health.
Secretary Interior and senior officials from the Chinese Embassy were also present during the meeting.
