ISLAMABAD: Nasir Mansoor Qureshi, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), has pledged to elevate the Chamber’s service delivery and transform Islamabad into a premier business hub. Speaking to a delegation of business leaders led by Raja Hassan Akhtar, President of the Traders Welfare Association (TWA) Blue Area, he outlined his strategic vision, which includes developing mega expo centers, world-class hotels, and fostering tourism-driven economic activities to benefit the business community and strengthen national financial stability.
President Qureshi revealed that funding requests have been submitted to the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) to support these transformative initiatives. Emphasizing the Chamber’s core values, he assured the business community that their dignity and interests would remain paramount, pledging to secure essential amenities and resources for industrial and trade growth while adhering to regulatory frameworks.
A cornerstone of Qureshi’s vision is the internal restructuring of ICCI. He highlighted the introduction of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to digitize membership processes and ongoing renovations of key facilities, including the Munawar Mughal Hall and the basement, to enhance member services.
Khalid Iqbal Malik, Chairman of the Founder Group, stressed the importance of unity within the business community for economic progress. Zafar Bakhtawari, Secretary General of the United Business Group, reaffirmed his support for collective efforts to address key challenges, particularly in the Blue Area.
Yousaf Rajput, Group Leader for Blue Area, raised critical issues facing the community, including concerns with the CDA, Police, IESCO, and FBR.
Raja Hassan Akhtar expressed gratitude to the ICCI leadership for its unwavering support and called for sustainable solutions to persistent challenges like parking shortages in Blue Area and other markets to ensure smooth traffic flow and improved customer experiences.
Senior Vice President Abdul Rehman Siddiqui and Vice President Nasir Mehmood Chaudhry lauded President Qureshi’s visionary leadership, commending his dedication to initiatives that benefit the business community. They described the Chamber as a “second home” for its members.
The meeting witnessed robust participation from prominent business leaders, including Executive Members Ch. Muhammad Waseem, Atiq ur Rehman, Naveed Akhtar Satti, Zulqarnain Abbasi and ICCI members Khalid Chaudhry, Naeem Siddiqui, Babar Chaudhry, Tehmas Butt, Deputy Chairman TWA Blue Area Amin Pirzada and other key stakeholders.
At the end traditional turbans were placed on ICCI’s portfolios and senior members as a symbol of honor and respect by the visiting business leaders.
