ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed sorrow over tragic place crash in which many precious lives were lost. In his X message he said,  â€˜Deeply saddened by the news of the tragic crash of an Azeri airliner near Aktau, Kazakhstan. My heartfelt condolences to my dear brother President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan over the loss of precious lives in this incident. Our thoughts are with the families of the deceased and we wish a swift recovery to the injured.Pakistan stands with Azerbaijan in this hour of grief’.

President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic crash of an Azerbaijani airliner near Aktau, Kazakhstan, in which precious human lives have been lost . He extended his heartfelt condolences to President Ilham Aliyev, the government, and the people of Azerbaijan, sharing their grief. The President also conveyed his sympathies to the bereaved families , emphasizing that Pakistan stands with them during this difficult time.

25 survivors from plane crash in Kazakhstan: ministry

Astana, Kazakhstan, Dec 25 (AFP/APP):An Azerbaijan Airlines passenger jet flying from the capital Baku to Grozny in Russia crashed on Wednesday in western Kazakhstan, the Kazakh transport ministry said on Wednesday.

                  “According to preliminary information, there are 25 survivors of whom 22 have been hospitalised,” the ministry said on Telegram. Health officials earlier said 14 survivors had been hospitalised.

                  “A plane doing the Baku-Grozny route crashed near the city of Aktau. It belongs to Azerbaijan Airlines,” the ministry said on Telegram.

                  Azerbaijan Airlines, the country’s flag carrier, said the Embraer 190 had “made an emergency landing” around three kilometres from Aktau, an oil and gas hub on the eastern shore of the Caspian Sea.

                  The Kazakh transport ministry said there were 62 passengers and five crew members on the plane.

                  The country’s emergency situations ministry said its personnel were putting out a fire at the site.

                  “Information about casualties is currently being clarified but, according to preliminary information, there are survivors,” it said.
