ISLAMABAD, JAN 17 (APP/DNA):Adviser to the Prime Minister on Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik on Friday expressed heartfelt condolences over the tragic loss of Pakistani lives in a devastating boat capsizing incident near Greece, which resulted in the loss of precious lives of Pakistani nationals and assured the nation of the government’s unwavering commitment to tackling human trafficking head-on.

Talking to private news channel, Aqeel emphasized that the government is committed to combating human trafficking and will leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators to justice.

He also announced that strict policies will be implemented to prevent such incidents in the future.

The government has already activated its Crisis Management Unit to facilitate Pakistanis in Greece and provide assistance to the families of the victims, he mentioned.

Barrister Aqeel Malik also urged the media to play a vital role in creating awareness among the public, particularly those who are tempted to migrate to other countries through illegal means or fake platforms that promise lucrative opportunities.

He emphasized the importance of exposing these scams and highlighting the risks and consequences of falling prey to such deceitful schemes, which often lead to human trafficking and exploitation.

Barrister Aqeel reassured that those responsible for the tragic incident will be brought to justice and held accountable, and that the investigations will reach a logical conclusion soon.

Responding to a query regarding PTI’s written demands submitted on January 16, it was revealed that the party presented an extensive list of demands, which explicitly sought an NRO (National Reconciliation Ordinance) from the government.

Furthermore, the Terms of Reference (ToRs) and written demands showcased the party’s irresponsible and non-serious attitude, he added.

He added that the government will submit a written response to PTI’s demands within 7 days, following consultations with party leadership and allied parties.

He also made it clear the significance of PTI’s backdoor meeting, saying they’re exaggerating a brief gathering and creating unnecessary confusion.
