ISLAMABAD, MAY 6: In a telephone conversation, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister briefed Bangladesh’s Adviser for Foreign Affairs, Md. Touhid Hossain, on the rising regional tensions spurred by India’s “unfounded allegations” and its unilateral actions, including the abrupt suspension of provisions of the Indus Waters Treaty.
Pakistani foreign minister expressed serious concerns over what was described as India’s arbitrary decision-making, warning of its potential impact on regional stability.
In response, Adviser Hossain underlined the importance of restraint by all parties and called for immediate de-escalation of tensions to preserve peace in the region.
Both officials reaffirmed their countries’ commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh. They agreed on the importance of maintaining regular high-level engagements and explored opportunities for deeper collaboration in regional and multilateral forums.
