Authorities have warned of dangerous flood levels at key points along the Indus River, with very high flooding expected at Guddu Barrage between September 14 and 15 and a high flood likely at Sukkur Barrage within the next 24 hours.
Red alert at Guddu, Sukkur barrages
The Ministry of Water Resources has issued a formal alert to all relevant agencies, highlighting the serious risk of flooding in Sindh. Officials confirmed that Guddu Barrage is facing a high to very high flood situation in the Indus River, while Sukkur Barrage is also expected to experience high flood levels soon.
At Kotri Barrage, the situation is relatively less severe, with low flood levels reported for now.
Extreme flooding at Panjnad Barrage
Meanwhile, the Chenab River’s Panjnad Barrage is under extreme pressure, with extremely high flood levels recorded. The surge is the result of massive inflows from upstream rivers, creating a dangerous situation for nearby communities.
