ISLAMABAD, OCT 4 (APP/DNA): Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi on Saturday revealed that, for the first time in the country’s history, provincial governments will participate in initiatives focused on track upgradation, station rehabilitation, and infrastructure advancements in several cities.
In an exclusive conversation with a local news channel, Hanif Abbasi emphasized the crucial role of provincial governments in the track-upgradation and restoration process, adding, the involvement of provinces is vital for the successful completion of this project.
Abbasi added that the upgradation work has already commenced in key provinces, including Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab, where significant progress is being made.
He highlighted that the efforts are not limited to these regions, as the plan to expand the upgradation process is also underway in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK).
He further elaborated on the positive impact of these improvements, noting that they will not only enhance the efficiency of the railway network but also improve transportation services across the country.
The minister also reassured that the expansion of these projects will continue to involve provincial cooperation, which is vital for their success.
He further added that the upgradation initiative has already begun in several key locations, including Balochistan, Sheikh Zaid in Sukkur, Karachi and the crucial route from Lahore to Rawalpindi.
These areas are now witnessing the commencement of major infrastructure improvements as part of the national track-upgradation project, he added.
Responding to a query, the minister also praised the Chief Minister of Sindh for showing an equally positive response, similar to that of the Punjab CM.
