DOHA: Qatar has confirmed that US President Donald Trump modified the Arab and Muslim nations’ proposed peace plan at Israel’s request before presenting it to the world.
The Qatari Foreign Ministry stated that while some of the original suggestions were retained, others were deliberately removed.
Trump changed peace plan, says Qatar
In a statement to Arab media, Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesman Majid Al-Ansari revealed that the final version of President Trump’s peace plan was significantly different from the proposal originally put forward by Arab Islamic countries.
He said, “President Trump presented the modified peace plan to the world. Some proposals from Arab Muslim countries were included, while others were removed. The changes were made at the behest of Israel.”
Qatar urges agreement in Egyptian-led negotiations
Majid Al-Ansari emphasized that all parties currently engaged in negotiations in Egypt are working toward reaching an agreement. He noted that the exchange of prisoners and the restoration of humanitarian aid are not possible without a mutual settlement.
“Every side involved in the Egyptian-hosted talks wants an agreement,” he said, underscoring the urgency of ending hostilities and stabilizing the situation in Gaza.
Qatari Foreign Ministry on Gaza’s future
In a separate statement addressing the situation in Gaza, the Qatari Foreign Ministry reiterated that the future of Gaza must remain in the hands of the Palestinians. The ministry stressed that any long-term solution should respect Palestinian sovereignty and the right to self-determination.

“The future of Gaza should be decided by Palestinians themselves,” the statement read. “It is too early to talk about the future of Hamas. International support will be required for the reconstruction of Gaza.”
Qatar reaffirmed its stance that Palestinians should have the right to determine their own political and administrative future, calling for sustained international involvement to rebuild war-torn Gaza.
Qatar’s role in regional diplomacy
Qatar has been actively involved in mediation efforts in the Middle East, particularly between Israel and Palestinian factions. The Gulf state’s latest comments reflect its consistent position — advocating for dialogue, humanitarian access, and respect for Palestinian autonomy amid ongoing geopolitical negotiations.
Earlier this week, Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had told the National Assembly that the 20 points that US President Donald Trump announced as part of his Gaza plan were not in line with the draft proposed by a group of Muslim-majority countries.
Changes were made in the plan, Dar told lawmakers during a briefing in the National Assembly.
Addressing the House, he emphasised unity between the PPP and PML-N, expressed gratitude for the PPP’s return to the assembly, and shed light on Pakistan’s diplomatic engagements, including the Palestine crisis, Kashmir dispute, and negotiations with world powers.
