ISLAMABAD, DEC 5 /DNA/: Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, has said that the working class is the backbone of the national economy and ensuring their welfare is the government’s top priority. He expressed these views during a meeting with a delegation comprising representatives of the Industrial Workers Etehad, Uni Pakistan International Limited, and Packages Group Workers Union. The delegation was led by Mohsin Ilyas Sheikh, Member Governing Body, Workers Welfare Fund.
Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry and Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed were also present on the occasion.
While addressing the delegation, the Federal Minister stated that his family’s relationship with the working class spans over three generations, beginning with Shaheed Chaudhry Zahoor Elahi and continuing to this day. He said that workers are the true heroes of the nation who, through their hard work and dedication, are driving Pakistan’s journey towards progress and prosperity.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain further said that the government is working on several revolutionary and far-reaching reform initiatives for the welfare of workers and their families. He emphasized that genuine worker representatives will now be directly involved in formulating welfare projects so that real and practical improvements can be ensured at the grassroots level.
On this occasion, union representatives thanked the Federal Minister for nominating Mohsin Ilyas Sheikh as a Member of the Governing Body of the Workers Welfare Fund, terming it a historic step for the working class. They reaffirmed their full support to the government and pledged that workers’ unions across the country stand shoulder to shoulder with the government.
Union leaders also paid rich tribute to the Federal Minister for taking solid and effective steps for the welfare of workers.
At the conclusion of the meeting, union representatives presented a commemorative shield to Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain. In turn, the Federal Minister presented a shield, on behalf of the union representatives, to Federal Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry.
