Rs36.68bn development schemes reviewed

VEHARI, Dec 15 (APP/DNA): Deputy Commissioner Khalid Javed Goraya chaired a comprehensive review meeting to assess the progress of development projects being executed across the district.

The meeting reviewed the status of 225 development schemes with a total outlay of Rs36.68 billion. Officials briefed the forum on 10 ongoing schemes worth Rs20.42 billion under the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2025–26, while progress on 29 new ADP schemes costing Rs4.98 billion was also reviewed.

Under the SAAF Programme Phase VII, work on 49 schemes worth Rs750 million was discussed. The meeting was further informed about projects under the Punjab Cities Programme, including 19 schemes in Vehari with an estimated cost of Rs3.657 billion and 14 schemes in Burewala worth Rs4.631 billion.

Briefings were also given on 96 schemes valued at Rs2.038 billion under the Roads Rehabilitation Punjab Khushhal Programme 2025–26. Additionally, eight development projects costing Rs199 million under the Urban Regeneration Programme were reviewed.

Addressing the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed all departments to accelerate the pace of development work while ensuring quality and transparency. He stated that development activities in Vehari district were being carried out in accordance with the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and instructed that all schemes be completed within the stipulated timeframe.

He ordered expedited work on the Khurshid Anwar Stadium gymnasium, emphasizing that no compromise would be made on quality. He also directed the early completion of the Working Women Hostel, noting that the project would provide improved facilities for working women.

The deputy commissioner instructed the concerned authorities to ensure proper safety measures during construction on the Vehari–Multan Road, including the installation of indicators and diversions. He also directed the placement of signboards along the Vehari–Burewala Road, early completion of the Vehari Municipal Library, improved road line marking, and installation of colorful tough tiles along roadsides.

Furthermore, he directed that all government buildings be painted in uniform colors and that green belts in front of offices be properly maintained.
