QUETTA : The Balochistan International Think Tank will host a special awards ceremony for journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at Governor House, Peshawar, on January 21, 2026.

Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Faisal Karim Kundi, will be the chief guest and will distribute the awards.

In a statement, Owais Jadun, Chairman of the Balochistan International Think Tank, said that the ceremony—organized jointly by the Balochistan International Think Tank and Friends of University Society Pakistan with support from Peshawar Press Club—will honour 17 outstanding journalists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for their exceptional work in the field. The journalists will be presented with awards named after Quaid-e-Azam, Nelson Mandela, Allama Iqbal, Nisar Usmani, and BB Shaheed.

He noted that the awards are part of the Heroes of Earth Chapter Pakistan International Civil Awards. KP journalists continue to perform their duties under extremely challenging and dangerous conditions, and their efforts deserve recognition at every level.

Jadun emphasized that federal and provincial governments should actively support journalists in the province to address issues such as insecurity and economic challenges, and to ensure that journalists can continue their work with dignity. He added that journalists play a crucial role in delivering accurate news to the public and raising awareness, helping people distinguish between misinformation, fake news, and rumours spread on social media.

“We hold the country’s journalists in the highest regard, and our society and think tank will always stand in support of them,” Owais Jadun said on the occasion.
