Eid celebrations: Gwadar witnessed tourists' influx

ISLAMABAD, 25 MAR (DNA) — During the three days of Eid celebrations scheduled from Mar 22 to Mar 24, Gwadar turned into a major tourist hub as hundreds of people hailing from different parts of the country poured into the city and enjoyed the festive days with great enthusiasm, Gwadar Pro reported on Wednesday

Beaches, resorts, Pidri Zari Park, Kohe Batil, and Koh-e-Mehdi were the main tourist attractions. Director General of the Gwadar Development Authority (GDA), Moin ur Rehman Khan, visited GDA’s Padi Zar Park, Marine Drive, and various beaches, and observed an unusually high influx of tourists during the Eid-ul-Fitr holidays.

On this occasion, Director Environment Rasool Bakhsh and Assistant Director Municipal Wing Yahya Wadelah  accompanied him. During the Eid holidays, Model Park, GDA Central Park, Marine Drive, and different beaches witnessed a large number of visitors, including local residents as well as hundreds of tourists from other cities.

Expressing satisfaction, the Director General stated that due to the quality facilities provided by GDA, it was not only possible to host tourists effectively, but people were also able to enjoy a safe, clean, and environmentally friendly recreational environment.  He particularly appreciated the arrangements made for women at the Beach Model Park, where a three-day Meena Bazaar was held before Eid, followed by large participation of women during the holidays in a peaceful environment.

However, he also expressed concern that at some locations, visitors did not maintain cleanliness, discipline, and proper upkeep, resulting in littering and minor damage.  He urged citizens and tourists to take responsibility for maintaining cleanliness and order at recreational spots.

The Director General further said that Gwadar is rapidly emerging as a key tourist destination in the region. During Eid, not only residents of the city but also people from Karachi and nearby districts and tehsils visited in large numbers.

He added that the city’s beauty, clean coastline, improved infrastructure, and development projects by GDA have played a significant role in making Gwadar an attractive tourist destination. He also highlighted that the influx of tourists boosted local business activities, benefiting the local economy, which is a positive and encouraging development. â€” DNA
