CAF's 4th Steering Committee meeting charts strategic path for climate action in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Apr 03: Climate Action Forum (CAF) has convened its fourth high-level Steering Committee meeting, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening collective engagement and charting the Forum’s next phase of collaboration for climate action across Pakistan.

The meeting brought together a diverse coalition of national and international organisations dedicated to climate resilience, sustainable development, policy engagement, and institutional capacity building, said a press release on Friday.

Participating members included CEOs of member Organizations i.e. Akhuwat Islamic Microfinance (AIM), the Institute of Rural Management (IRM), Rural Support Programmes Network (RSPN), Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), Sindh Rural Support Organisation (SRSO), Sarhad Rural Support Programme (SRSP), Thardeep Rural Development Programme (TRDP), Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), Secours Islamique France (SIF), The Asia Foundation (TAF), Human Resource Development Network (HRDN), and Trust for Voluntary Organisations (TVO).

Discussions focused on advancing CAF’s collaborative agenda, including the initiation of a CAF-led research component aimed at generating robust evidence to inform policy and practice. Participants also explored opportunities for joint project development among member institutions and emphasized the need to strengthen institutional and technical capacities within the network to enhance collective impact.

The meeting underscored the importance of shared learning, cross-sector partnerships, and coordinated action as key drivers of climate resilience and sustainable development in Pakistan.

A key highlight of the session was an engagement with Climate Policy Expert at Oxford Policy Management, who shared insights on emerging climate policy priorities and global perspectives on climate governance and adaptation planning. The discussion opened promising avenues for future collaboration in research, policy engagement, and programmatic initiatives.

The Steering Committee reaffirmed CAF’s commitment to fostering inclusive partnerships, promoting innovation, and aligning collective efforts with national and global climate goals. By strengthening cooperation and building on shared priorities, CAF continues to serve as a strategic platform for unified climate action in Pakistan.

The meeting marked a significant milestone in reinforcing CAF’s role as a multi-stakeholder platform for strategic dialogue, evidence-based action, and coordinated responses to the country’s evolving climate challenges.
