ISLAMABAD, 13 MAY (DNA) — Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, on Wednesday said around 90,000 Pakistanis visited Azerbaijan last year, reflecting growing people-to-people contacts and expanding tourism ties between the two countries.
The ambassador shared these figures during a meeting with Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Musadik Masood Malik in Islamabad, where both sides discussed bilateral relations, tourism cooperation, regional connectivity and opportunities for joint ventures.
During the meeting, it was shared that approximately 120,000 Pakistani citizens were granted e-visas and ASAN visas for Azerbaijan last year, out of which around 90,000 Pakistanis travelled to the country. Both sides discussed enhancing flight connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan in view of increasing travel demand and growing exchanges between the people of the two countries.
Ambassador Khazar Farhadov said Pakistan possessed immense tourism potential due to its diverse landscapes, beaches, mountains and natural beauty. Dr. Musadik Malik observed that Pakistan could benefit from Azerbaijan’s experience in developing the tourism sector and said the promotion of tourism and related industries could create millions of employment opportunities for Pakistani youth.
The minister said Azerbaijan remained one of Pakistan’s most strategic partners, adding that relations between the two countries were rooted in mutual trust, shared values and regional connectivity.
The ambassador also briefed the minister regarding the upcoming World Urban Forum and discussed the possibility of meetings between Dr. Musadik Malik and Azerbaijan’s ministers of energy and ecology during the minister’s anticipated visit to Baku.
During the discussion, Ambassador Khazar Farhadov expressed satisfaction over growing cooperation among Pakistan, Türkiye and Central Asian countries, saying stronger alliances and joint ventures among regional states could contribute significantly towards economic growth and shared prosperity.— DNA
