RAWALPINDI, Sep 01 (DNA):The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), during an intelligence-based operation on Shikarpur Road, Sukkur, on Tuesday, foiled an inter-provincial drug smuggling attempt through an ambulance and recovered 49.4 kg of narcotics concealed in secret cavities.ANF spokesperson said a key member of an inter-provincial drug trafficking network, identified as Liaquat Ali, a resident of Shikarpur, was also apprehended during the operation.The recovered narcotics included 36 kg of hashish and 13.4 kg of ice (methamphetamine), which were allegedly being transported from Balochistan to Sindh.The spokesperson said ANF had received credible intelligence that drug traffickers would attempt to transport a large quantity of narcotics from Balochistan to Sindh using an ambulance as a cover.Through continuous surveillance, effective planning and a professional operational strategy, ANF intercepted the ambulance and foiled the smuggling attempt.A case has been registered against the accused under the Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 1997.The spokesperson said the use of an ambulance for drug trafficking not only reflected the tactics adopted by traffickers but also undermined the legitimate use of emergency medical services.The operation reflected ANF’s continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and making Pakistan a drug-free country.
