MUZAFFARABAD, MAY 24 (DNA) — A sit-in protest was held at Azadi Chowk in Muzaffarabad, today, to demand the release of illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Yasin Malik. The sit-in was followed by a protest rally organized by the International Forum for Justice and Human Rights.
Leader of the Opposition in the AJK Legislative Assembly Chaudhry Latif Akbar, Chief Justice (retd) Muhammad Ibrahim Zia, Vice Chairman International Forum for Justice and Human Rights Mushtaq-ul-Islam, Chairman Pasban-e-Hurriyat Uzair Ahmad Ghazali, PPP leader Shaukat Javed, Anjuman-e-Tajiran leader, Abdul Razzaq Khan, All Pakistan Muslim League leader Javed Mughal, MD Shaheed Burhan College Syed Hamza Shaheen, Refugee Youth Federation President Siddique Dawood, Hamid Jamil, DG Kashmir Cultural Academy, Faizan Arif, Tehreek-e-Azadi Jammu and Kashmir leader Dr Manzoor Ahmed, Muslim Conference leader Advocate Yasir Naqvi, Iqbal Ahmed Mir, Naseer Ahmed Mir, Abdul Hameed Lone, Tanzeer Iqbal, Shafiq Inqalabi, Advocate Mehtab Ahmed and others addressed the gathering.
The speakers said that the United Nations should hold India accountable for the arrest and victimization of the Hurriyat leadership in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Yasin Malik could be sentenced to life in prison or the death penalty by the Indian court, tomorrow.
The speakers said the so-called Indian judiciary has made fabricated and baseless charges against Yasin Malik to punish him for demanding liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from India. They deplored that the Indian judiciary is following the dictates of Narendra Modi.
The speakers rejected such baseless allegations and strongly condemned the convicting of Yasin Malik by the so-called Indian judiciary. They called upon the United Nations, the European Union and human rights organizations to force India to drop false charges against Yasin Malik and release him forthwith.
They also demanded release of International Forum for Justice Chairman Muhammad Ahsan Untoo. They said, Untoo has been lodged in Central Jail Srinagar for last 6 months for speaking out against human rights abuses by Indian troops in IIOJK. =DNA
