HYDERABAD, Apr 17 (DNA): The High Commissioner of Bangladesh M D Iqbal Hussain Khan has said vast opportunities for academic collaboration existed between Pakistan and Bangladesh, emphasizing on the need for further collaboration.
He expressed these views during a visit to the Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS), Jamshoro, on Friday
The HC was accompanied by a delegation from the High Commission of Bangladesh.
The guests carried out a detailed tour of the university and during the visit they were briefed on various academic departments, modern facilities, and ongoing development projects at the institution.
The High Commissioner expressed his pleasure at visiting one of Pakistan’s leading medical universities. He liked the university’s infrastructure, academic environment, and overall development, describing LUMHS as a large, well-established, and progressive institution.
The HC noted that several Bangladeshi students were currently studying at LUMHS under various scholarship programs, including Allama Iqbal Scholarships, PTAP programs, and self-financed admissions. He added that in the coming years, LUMHS was expected to play an important role in strengthening educational cooperation between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The visit concluded on a positive note, reflecting goodwill, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to promoting educational ties between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
During the visit Khan also interacted with Bangladeshi students.
Vice Chancellor of LUMHS Prof Dr Ikram Din Ujjan stated that the visit of the Bangladeshi High Commission’s delegation was a matter of great honor for the University.
He reiterated that LUMHS was committed to providing high-quality medical education, research opportunities, and a supportive academic environment for both local and international students. He said the presence of Bangladeshi students at LUMHS reflected strong educational ties between the two brotherly countries.
The VC briefed the guests that the university was continuously improving its academic standards, infrastructure, and student facilities in line with modern requirements.
He welcomed the interest of the diplomat in strengthening academic cooperation and expressed hope that such engagements would open new avenues for joint research, student exchange programs, and educational collaboration between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Ujjan reaffirmed LUMHS’s commitment to promoting international academic partnerships and fostering an environment of mutual understanding and educational excellence.
Upon arrival, as a gesture of hospitality, he presented the guests with traditional Sindhi Ajrak and a commemorative shield.
