Bugti elected as President PHF after congress vote of confidence

ISLAMABAD: Tariq Hussain Masoori Bugti becomes elected president of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) after getting vote of confidence  here at the Pakistan Sports Complex Islamabad on  Thursday.

Bugti, who was nomiated by Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar in his capacity as patron-in-chief of PHF took the vote of confidence in Pakistan Hockey Federation Congress meeting and secured a total of 62 votes out of 93 who voted in favor of him.

The representatives of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) were also present in the PHF Congress.

Speaking on the occasion, Tariq Bigti said he was grateful to Congress for showing confidence on him.

I will inform the Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif who is the Pattern Chief of Pakistan Hockey Federation about the development. Those trying to create a parallel federation will be questioned and would also be given a chance to straighten up their ways. The doors of the federation are open to everyone, he said.

He was of the view that all PHF resources would be used for the promotion of the national game and a hockey tournament will be held in Quetta after Eid.

The Congress session of Pakistan Hockey Federation was presided by PHF Chief Election Commissioner Chaudhry Riaz. A large number of other stakeholders including the four provinces participated in the congress meeting.
