China, Pakistan launches series of activities of vocational education

BEIJING, Aug 30 (DNA): China-Pakistan TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Cooperation and Development seminar and the launching Ceremony of China-Pakistan TVET Exchange and Cooperation series activities were launched here at Pakistan Embassy.

According to China Economic Net (CEN), a series of future activities were launched including the China-Pakistan TVET Cooperation and Development Seminar, China-Pakistan “Internet +” International Education & Industry-Education Integration Seminar to be held during the 23rd China International Education Annual Conference, preparation of China-Pakistan International Industrial Academic Integration Alliance, online lecture series and exchange activities of China-Pakistan TVET College Principals, International Academic Seminar to be held jointly by the Embassy of Pakistan together with Pakistan National Skills University and Hebei Province, China, visits and inspections of leading experts from the Pakistani Embassy in Beijing to Chinese vocational institutes, and the establishment of China-Pakistan TVET Center of Excellence.   

On the occasion, two Sino-Pak dual diploma joint technical education programs under the “China Cooperation + Commercial Culture + Technological Training + Education Employment” (CCTE) model were signed. 

The first one is between Government College of Technology for P&GA, Shenzhen Institute of Information Technology, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority Punjab, Zalmi Foundation, and TANG International Education Group. 

The second one is between Pingdingshan Polytechnic College and TANG International Education Group. Talent on software engineering and mining will be cultivated respectively.    

According to the Embassy, the seminar and series activities aim to improve the standard of vocational skills, socio-industrial ethics and e-commerce capability of Pakistani youth, which constitutes about 70% of Pakistan’s total population, enhance exports by cultivating talent for the Special Economic Zones, make Pakistan a regional center of excellence for vocational training by collaborating with existing state-of-the-art vocational universities and colleges, and equip the poor segment of society with specialized training to eradicate poverty.   

The event was hosted by the Pakistani Embassy, organized by Tang International Education Group, and co-organized by Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association.   

Moin ul Haque, Ambassador of Pakistan to China, as well as representatives from National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC), Pakistan, China Education Association for International Exchange, China Association of Higher Education, TANG International Education Group, and Beijing Global Talent Exchange Association addressed the ceremony.  

In his speech, Moin ul Haque stressed the need to train talent in e-commerce to promote Pakistan’s exports to China through online platforms. 

He acknowledged the role of TVET cooperation in capacity building in Pakistani communities as CPEC construction will bring huge demand of skilled manpower in industries, ICT, and agriculture.
