ISLAMABAD: Chinese Embassy in Pakistan held a symposium and photo exhibition commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. H.E. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Mr. Jiang Zaidong and H.E. Deputy Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly Mr. Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah attended and delivered keynote speeches. Representatives from the Pakistani government, political parties, think tanks, and media attended the event. The symposium was moderated by Mr. Wang Shengjie, Counsellor at the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, and Mr. Mustafa Hyder Sayed, Executive Director of the Pakistan-China Institute.
Jiang Zaidong stated that the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression made historic contributions to the triumph of the World Anti-Fascist War. The Communist Party of China (CPC) took the lead in raising the banner of resistance by the whole nation, playing a pivotal role in the war. He emphasized that the post-war international order is currently facing severe challenges. As important members of the Global South, China and Pakistan should jointly safeguard the victorious outcomes of WWII, practice true multilateralism, and uphold the interests of developing countries.
Syed Ghulam Mustafa Shah remarked that the Chinese military and people made tremendous sacrifices in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, defending peace in Asia and the world, with the CPC playing an irreplaceable role. In the face of unilateralism and hegemonism, Pakistan will firmly stand with China and follow a path of peaceful development and win-win cooperation.
Gen (R) Zubair Hayat, Former Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, and Mr. Murtaza Solangi, journalist and former Federal Caretaker Minister for Information and Parliamentary Affairs, also addressed the event.
