Decision of Pak Steel Mills’ privatization was taken during PML-N tenure: Murad Saeed

ISLAMABAD (Dna) – Minister for Communications Murad Saeed on Wednesday has told that the decision of privatizing Pakistan Steel Mills was taken in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) tenure.

While speaking in the National Assembly, the minister regretted that the previous governments left all the state owned enterprises including Pakistan Steel Mills, Pakistan International Airline and Pakistan Railways into losses.

We are reforming these entities and its benefit will reach the masses, he added.

Murad Saeed said that the revenue of Pakistan Post has significantly increased under the present government. Our first year saw seventy percent and the second year one hundred and ten percent increase in its revenue, he stated.

Regarding coronavirus, the minister said the federal government provided Personal Protective Equipment, Masks and ventilators to the provinces. He said we are strengthening our healthcare system in this time of crisis.

The minister said we have also given a mega stimulus package of 1200 billion rupees to provide succor to different segments of society during these testing times. 


Federal cabinet approves privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills


The Federal Cabinet, endorsing the decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), had approved the privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills.

During the meeting of Federal Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan, the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) approved the privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that in the privatization of Pakistan Steel Mills, securing national interests as well as benefit of the workers should be kept in consideration.

It may be recalled that the government had approved the dismissal of 9,350 employees of Pakistan Steel Mills collective payment of Rs 20 billion.
