ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Secretary Muhammad Abdullah Khan Sumbal died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday. Abdullah Khan Sumbal was the seasoned bureaucrat, who served as Punjab chief secretary, commissioner of Lahore division and multiple others important posts in Punjab and elsewhere.

In 2022, Abdullah Khan Sumbal was appointed as chief secretary by the establishment division.

Sumbal served as the acting chief secretary on the key post that was vacant for a long time due to prolonged vacations – 105 days – of chief secretary Kamran Ali Afzal.
