Founder Group kicks off first phase campaign for LCCI polls

LAHORE Aug 9 (DNA) – “Founder”  Group Sunday formally   kicked off first phase of the  campaign for the annual election of the pioneer Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI)  established in 1923 ,to be held on September 25 and 26 next.

Speaking to select representatives of trade unions of city at his residence   in view of Coronavirus Chairman Founder Group Iftikhar Ali Malik said that top  group leaders  have decided in principle to continue its alliance with Pakistan Industrial & Traders Association Front (PIAF) for the upcoming election of Lahore Chamber or 2020-2021. President SAARC Chamber and The United Business Group chairman Iftikhar Ali Malik, who is also leading the election campaign, said that majority of LCCI’s former presidents was in favour of continuity of the Alliance.

He said that keeping in view of the past experience, it seems difficult to cause a dent in the formidable unity of existing alliance of “Founder’s and the “PIAF” in the provincial metropolis and leading United Business Group in federation election.

Group Chairman said that we firmly believe in rule of law, promotion of democratic system and strengthening of national economy by safeguarding the interests of traders. He said that Alliance had decided to introduce sector specialists as their candidates for the LCCI Executive Committee with the sole objective to forward solid proposals to the government for economic progress and prosperity.

He said that the names of the Alliance candidates would finalised with the consultation of market representatives.He said Founder has invited applications till August 15 from business community  for the seats of executive committee member from corporate class and associate class He said that despite unprecedented crisis at national level, all efforts were made to restore the confidence of the business community.

Iftikhar Malik hoped the business community would repose confidence in Alliance in the larger interests of the economy of the country.

He said that a large number of industrial associations have announced to support the PIAF-Founders Alliance for upcoming LCCI elections. He said the Alliance would continue to serve the business community in the larger interest of economy and would urge government to form business friendly policies.

The alliance leaders have pledged to continue to raise voice for the solution of the problems being faced by the business community.

Iftikhar said no annual dinner, a feature of the campaign,  and gatherings will be held during campaign in view of Coronavirus pandemic. He said if felt necessary video link meeting through zoom or webinar would be conducted to muster support of voters.He said Founder has established its election office at 16 -3rd floor big city plaza, Liberty Chowk Gulberg.
