According to the CTD, its SWAT team carried out the operation at the Mehar Gul Killay cemetery after receiving credible intelligence that terrorists were allegedly planning attacks on security forces.

The department said the suspects opened fire when they spotted CTD personnel, leading to an exchange of fire that lasted around 20 to 25 minutes. After the firing stopped, a search of the area found four suspects dead, while several others reportedly escaped under the cover of darkness.

The CTD recovered three Kalashnikov rifles, a pistol, a hand grenade, seven magazines and several rounds of ammunition from the site.

One of the deceased was identified as Syed Wali, son of Abdul Ghani and a resident of Nangarhar, Afghanistan, after an Afghan refugee card was found in his possession.

The CTD said investigations were continuing to establish the identities and roles of the suspects. A search operation was also underway to locate those who escaped. The department said all its personnel remained safe during the operation.
