Islamabad — Reports of petrol and diesel shortages across Islamabad have led to long queues at fuel stations and growing concern among residents. Multiple filling stations, including outlets operated by Pakistan State Oil (PSO), were either closed or unable to supply fuel on Thursday.
At a fuel station in the G-11 sector, staff informed customers that their petrol stock had run out and they were uncertain about when the next supply would arrive. Similar situations were observed in several parts of the city, with motorists waiting in extended lines in hopes of refueling.
The sudden disruption has sparked panic buying, with many residents rushing to secure fuel amid fears of a prolonged shortage.
Meanwhile, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has issued a statement rejecting rumors circulating on social media about a nationwide strike by the Petroleum Dealers Association.
“It has been observed that fake news is circulating regarding an alleged strike,” the statement said. “This information is incorrect and is hereby strongly rebutted. No such strike has been announced by any petroleum-related association.”
OGRA urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information and to rely only on official sources. “The public is advised to disregard these misleading reports,” the authority added, emphasizing that the clarification was issued in the public interest.
Despite the reassurance, uncertainty remains on the ground as commuters continue to face difficulties due to limited fuel availability.
