ISLAMABAD, AUG 4 /DNA/ – The Higher Education Commission (HEC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) and Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, organised a full-day executive training programme titled “AI for Public Sector Leaders” at HEC Islamabad.
The programme was organised pursuant to the Prime Minister’s Office directive on advancing the strategic digital transformation agenda across Federal Ministries, Divisions, and Entities. The training was held at HEC’s Smart Classroom, attended by members of the HEC’s Senior Management Committee.
The session was conducted by Dr. Jawad Shah, Senior Solution Architect (Big Data & AI), Alibaba Cloud, Singapore, who shared insights into the evolving AI landscape, practical applications of AI in the public sector, and opportunities for leveraging data and AI-driven solutions for organisational transformation.
The interactive programme also provided participants an opportunity to explore the strategic implications of AI adoption and challenges associated with its effective implementation in public sector institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman HEC, Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar emphasised the importance of embracing emerging technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance institutional efficiency, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making. He underscored HEC’s commitment to strengthening digital capabilities and equipping its leadership with the knowledge and skills required to effectively navigate the rapidly evolving technological landscape. Executive Director HEC Dr. Zia Ul Haq was also present on the occasion.
The initiative reaffirms HEC’s commitment to digital transformation, innovation, and emerging technologies, while equipping its senior leadership with contemporary knowledge and strategic insights to strengthen institutional capacity and modernise higher education governance.
