LAHORE, AUG 4 /DNA/ – Acting President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh, said that Pakistan needs to promote positive change, honesty, responsibility and professionalism in order to present a better image of the country at the international level. He said that trade, integrity and good conduct not only strengthen the national economy but also enhance Pakistan’s positive reputation around the world.
He expressed these views while chairing a seminar titled “Economic Opportunities and the Religious Heritage of Uzbekistan” organized by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. LCCI Executive Committee Member Firdous Nisar was also present on the occasion.
The seminar featured addresses by Dr. Tariq Sharifzada, Convener of the Standing Committee on Religious Affairs; H.E. Mudassir Tipu, Ambassador of Pakistan to Uzbekistan, who joined the event via Zoom; and Kashif Younas Mehr, Honorary Consul of Kyrgyzstan. Former Executive Committee Member Naeem Hanif, Javed Ijaz, Pandit Bahgat Lal, Nighat Izhar, Muhammad Haris, Anam Qazi, Danish Zafar and other distinguished guests also attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh said that Uzbekistan’s religious heritage and economic potential are of great importance for Pakistan. He emphasized that Pakistani businessmen, students and professionals should receive proper training before traveling abroad so that they can represent Pakistan positively through their conduct and professional capabilities.
He said that success in today’s world depends not only on economic progress but also on moral values, truthfulness and trustworthiness. He added that if Pakistanis establish themselves as a responsible and reliable nation, the country’s image and standing at the global level will improve significantly.
Tanveer Ahmad Sheikh further said that Pakistani embassies should play a more active role in organizing educational, cultural and business-related programs to strengthen relations with other countries. He assured participants that the Lahore Chamber and its various standing committees would extend full support to such initiatives.
Addressing the seminar, Dr. Tariq Sharifzada appreciated the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry for organizing the event on such an important subject. He said that increasing awareness and strengthening relations with Uzbekistan and other Muslim countries is the need of the hour. He added that understanding each other better lays the foundation for stronger economic, social and cultural cooperation.
Dr. Tariq Sharifzada said that Pakistan and Uzbekistan share centuries-old historical, religious and cultural ties, and these relations should be further strengthened through continued academic and intellectual engagement. He expressed hope that bilateral relations between the two countries would become stronger and more meaningful in the years ahead.
Participants of the seminar held detailed discussions on Uzbekistan’s religious heritage, historical significance and growing economic opportunities. They also stressed the importance of enhancing trade, cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts between Pakistan and the countries of Central Asia.
The participants agreed that greater cooperation, stronger business linkages and increased cultural and religious understanding would help further strengthen relations between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and open new avenues for mutual growth and development.
