Hockey kits distributed among 26 schools in Sukkur to revive national game

SUKKUR, Oct 09 (DNA):A ceremony for the distribution of hockey kits among the students of 26 school of Sukkur division was held at the auditorium of IBA Public School here Friday under the auspices of the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF).

The initiative aims to revive Pakistan’s national game at the school level and inculcate passion for the sport among the younger generation.

The ceremony was attended by Additional Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) Meeran Mohiuddin Soomro, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Nadir Shahzad Khan, Deputy Mayor Sukkur Dr. Arshad Mughal, Pro Vice Chancellor Sukkur IBA University Mir Muhammad Shah, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Majid Ali Mako, Director Schools Education Sukkur Hafiz Shahabuddin Indhar, Director Private Schools Sukkur Hameeda Jatoi, DEO Education Ghulam Murtaza Shah, Principal IBA Public School Dr. Ali Gohar Chang, CMO Education Saqib Siddiqui, PHF Media Head Muhammad Waqas Sheikh, Secretary Sindh Hockey Association Ramzan Jamali, Deputy DEO Education Javed Qureshi, TEO Sukkur Tahir Qureshi, Women Coordinator Fazeela Ashraf, representatives of Pakistan Hockey Federation, senior officers of the School Education Department, Physical Education Teachers (PETs) of the concerned schools and a large number of students.

On the occasion, modern hockey kits and equipment were distributed among 26 public and private schools of Sukkur district. The main objective of the initiative is to provide basic and quality sports equipment to schoolchildren, promote hockey at the grassroots level through educational institutions, identify and train emerging talent from schools and revive the national game to restore its past glory.

Addressing the ceremony, Additional Secretary IPC Meeran Mohiuddin Soomro, Deputy Commissioner Nadir Shahzad Khan, Deputy Mayor Dr. Arshad Mughal, Director Schools Hafiz Shahabuddin and others highlighted the importance of sports, including hockey. They said sports play a vital role in building a healthy society and help instill discipline, confidence, character-building and teamwork among children and youth.

Representatives and students of public and private schools received the hockey kits on behalf of the School Education Department.
