Islamabad: Iqra University’s H-9 Campus proudly unveiled its cutting-edge sports arena on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, marking a significant stride in providing a holistic educational experience for its students.
The state-of-the-art facility encompasses spaces for football, badminton, and basketball, aimed at promoting physical well-being and fostering a culture of sportsmanship among the student body.
In a groundbreaking move towards inclusivity, Iqra University is introducing “Exclusive Saturdays,” reserving the sports arena for women only on Saturdays. This initiative seeks to empower female students to specialize in their chosen sports and contribute to the university’s commitment to gender equality.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed diplomats, who joined the university community in celebrating this milestone. To add a competitive edge to the inauguration, a thrilling futsal match unfolded between diplomats (from Romania, Iran, USA and Brazil) and Iqra University students.
H.E Ms. Irena Gancheva- Ambassador of Bulgaria , the distinguished chief guest, commended the university’s commitment to providing top-level sports facilities to its students. She emphasized the positive impact such initiatives have on the overall development of individuals. She also highlighted the importance of women in sports and appreciated Iqra university for dedicating “Saturdays for women” in sports. She showed her interest over the academic and cultural exchange programs between Iqra University and Bulgaria.
