PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur said he will attend the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) meeting in Islamabad today after receiving an invitation from the federal government.
In response to whether he would attend the meeting or not, the chief minister confirmed his presence to the publication.
“Yes, surely, I will represent my province in the SIFC meeting,” he said.
The development was also confirmed by the Special Assistant to CM KP on information and public relations, Barrister Mohammad Ali Saif, who stated that Gandapur will attend the high-level huddle today, as he has been invited by Islamabad.
Earlier, Barrister Saif had criticised the federal government for not inviting the KP chief minister to the SIFC meeting.
The KP government’s spokesperson lamented the federal government’s prejudice towards the province and its people.
“Ignoring the province and its people from their representation in the Special Investment Facilitation Council is a great injustice to this province,” he said earlier this week.
The politician maintained that the KP government would not implement what he termed “biased decisions made in the SFIC meeting in Islamabad in the absence of Chief Minister Gandapur”.
He added: “The chief minister will definitely represent Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as he has received an invitation to attend the SFIC meeting. There are better opportunities for investment in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the chief minister will explain it in the meeting.”
Barrister Saif said KP is rich in minerals and natural resources and there are many opportunities for investment in the province. The special assistant mentioned that the provincial government will fully facilitate the investors, as there are multiple sectors for investment in the province.
SIFC meeting
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will chair a meeting of SIFC’s apex committee at the PM House today.
The country’s top civil and military leadership, federal ministers and chief secretaries would attend the meeting and ratify decisions during the huddle.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqi will brief the meeting on anti-smuggling measures. A briefing on the latest security situation in the country will also be given.
The committee will also be apprised of the progress made on the $10 billion investment from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) okayed by the Gulf nation during PM Shehbaz’s recent visit.
