LAHORE, SEP 26 (DNA) — Punjab Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi said the Lahore-Sialkot Motorway will be linked to Gujranwala through a two-lane road from Wahndu Interchange to Benazir Chowk. While reviewing the entire route from 15.2 km Benazir Chowk to Wahndu, the CM said that the two-lane paved road will provide excellent access to the motorway.
Chief Minister emphasized the immense benefits of this development, stating that once completed, the journey from Gujranwala to Lahore will be reduced to a mere 45 minutes. This significant reduction in travel time not only promises greater convenience for commuters but also substantial fuel savings.
The CM Mohsin Naqvi reviewed the ongoing construction activities on the 2-15 km two-way stretch under construction. He also checked the progress of earthwork and stone laying work on the structure besides under-construction bridges.
During his visit to the ongoing construction site, CM Mohsin Naqvi expressed satisfaction with the progress, commending the speed and dedication of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) staff. The project, which covers a 15.2-kilometer stretch, has seen nearly 90% of its earthwork completed. Work on stone laying and the construction of vital bridges and subways is also underway.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister hinted at the development of a commercial area along the newly constructed link road, promising economic opportunities for the region.
On the occasion, the CM urged the concerned authorities to adhere to the stipulated timeline for completion. He received a briefing from Project Director Col Imran Arshad, who assured that all available resources were being utilized to ensure the timely completion of the ambitious project.
