Eating the same food again and again for a few days can get boring but imagine restricting your diet to a single food for 28 years. It sounds almost impossible.

However, an Indian man claimed that he had eaten nothing but coconut for the last 28 years to treat his gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), The Sun reported.

Balakrishnan Palayi, who hails from Kerala, was diagnosed with a condition that made him lose his strength and he could hardly move. However, Palayi started eating coconut to treat himself which made him feel better and he decided that it was the only thing he would eat.

“Coconut has minerals, like calcium, magnesium, sodium, and potassium. This helped him regain his strength and now he is fit and fine. And, he is on a strict coconut-only diet,” said a vlogger while speaking during an interview with Palayi.

Palayi was diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux at the age of 35. And every time he ate something, he would vomit his food out. The man tried multiple diets to cure his disease, however, the only two things that made him feel better were coconut and coconut water.

“I eat coconuts every day. My family also switched to growing coconuts. I have lived like this for the past 24 years,” Palayi said.

Palayi, who is 64 now, is healthier than most of the people his age. He manages his family farm, exercises and swims and has no health issues.

His diet was originally reported back in 2019, but it has been making rounds on the internet ever since then.
