ISLAMABAD, NOV 10 (DNA) — Following the special directions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, in a proactive move to enhance road safety and streamline the process of obtaining driving license, the Islamabad Capital Police have issued necessary guidelines for citizens, a public relations officer said.
He said that, during the month of October and November, 4510 individuals fell short in acquiring their driving licenses. Islamabad Capital Police emphasizes the necessity of familiarizing oneself with traffic laws and successfully passing the driving skills test. Prospective license holders are encouraged to approach the process with thorough preparation.
Before applying, the applicants must ensure their residential address in Islamabad is listed on their national identity card. Those meeting this criterion should visit the Islamabad Capital Police Traffic office with two copies of their identity card. The initial step involves a medical examination conducted by the police medical team, covering both physical health and visual acuity.
After successfully passing the medical examination, candidates will receive a learner’s license valid for six months. However, after completing 40-days learning period, applicants can visit the Islamabad Capital Police Traffic Office to undertake the final driving test, evaluating both traffic law knowledge and driving skills.
All stages of the test adhere to merit, transparency, and international standards. Successful candidates in the test are promptly issued their driving licenses. Those who do not pass the initial attempt can reattempt the test after a waiting period issued by the licensing authority.
