OIC condemns assassination of Turkish-American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi by occupation forces

JEDDAH, 8 SEPT /DNA/ – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) strongly condemns the escalation of Israeli occupation crimes in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, which led on Friday, September 6, 2024, to the martyrdom of the American-Turkish solidarity worker Aysenur Ezgi Eygi (26 years old) by the Israeli occupation forces during her participation in a peaceful march protesting the colonial settlement policy in the town of Beita, south of Nablus. Additionally, the OIC condemns the assassination of the child Bana Amjad Baker (13 years old), during the attacks by extremist settler militias, carried out with the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, in Qaryut village, also located south of Nablus.

The OIC holds Israel, the occupying force, fully responsible for these heinous crimes, which are viewed as part of the ongoing genocide and organized terrorism perpetrated daily by the Israeli occupation forces against Palestinian civilians in blatant violation of all international laws, norms, and relevant UN resolutions. The organization calls for the formation of an independent international commission to investigate these crimes and ensure that the perpetrators are held accountable.

The organization also stressed the need for the international community, especially the UN Security Council, to assume its responsibilities and enforce its resolutions. This includes imposing an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, and ending the colonial settlement policy and the illegal Israeli occupation of the territory of the State of Palestine.
